What happens
The Arbitrum DAO is voting on a proposal to make USDG, the dollar stablecoin issued by Paxos, a core strategic priority for the network. It comes with an extra 100M ARB in incentives to grow USDG use on Arbitrum.
USDG went live on Arbitrum on October 6. This vote is about going further: making it the dollar the DAO actively pushes.
The numbers
At 07:59 UTC on October 19, 2026, ARB traded at $0.198, up about 9% in 24 hours, while most altcoins were weak and Bitcoin dominance sat above 60%.
The 100M ARB package is worth about $20M at that price.
On Snapshot, 37.3M ARB voted For and 0.25M Against, about 99%. Voting closes October 22 at 20:05 UTC. An onchain vote still has to follow before anything is final.
What I'm watching
Revenue. DAO income is paid in ETH, so a weak market hits it twice. USDG rewards could add dollar income that holds up better when prices fall.
Incentives. 100M ARB is real money, but paid users often leave once rewards stop. Some of those tokens may also be sold on the market.
History. ARB is still about 92% below its 2024 high.
The bigger picture. Chains are starting to pick their own official dollar. That is a new kind of stablecoin competition.
