What happens
The Sandbox says The Sandbox Studio, its AI game builder, opens to the public in October. It comes after 3.5 months of closed alpha and beta, with 8 product releases and 4 game jams.
The idea is simple. You describe a game with a prompt, the Studio builds it, and you get a playable game you can sell. On October 14 the team showed how creators can get those games ready to sell with Xsolla.
The numbers
At 08:55 UTC on October 18, 2026, SAND traded at $0.0638, up about 12% in 24 hours and about 76% in 30 days. Bitcoin was flat, and most gaming tokens like AXS, GALA and MAGIC were red.
During the closed phase, 100+ handpicked creators built 100+ games with an open tech stack: Claude Code, Codex and Gemini.
Market cap is around $190M, and 24h volume is close to that figure. That is a lot of trading for a token this size.
What I'm watching
Leverage. Early this morning, Binance funding on SAND was deeply negative, so shorts were paying longs, and open interest was up about 70% in a day. Moves like this can squeeze higher, then reverse just as fast.
Real usage. A token built on metaverse land now needs players and paying creators. The public launch will show whether builders actually show up.
History. SAND is still about 99% below its 2021 high.
