What happens
On October 19, World launched World ID for banking and finance. The idea is simple: prove a real person is behind a call, an account or an action, without sharing who that person is.
Zoom calls can now show a verified human badge. AI agents can also carry a proof delegated by a real person, so a bank knows a human approved what the agent does.
Bain Capital, Pantera Capital and VanEck Funds are among the first design partners.
The numbers
At 16:14 UTC on October 20, 2026, WLD traded at $0.560, up about 9% in 24 hours while the total crypto market was down about 1.9%.
The risk is not theoretical. In 2024, an Arup employee transferred $25.6M after a video call where every other face was a deepfake.
On the other side, WLD is still about 95% below its 2024 high, and only about 38% of the 10B supply circulates.
What I'm watching
Whether the design partners move from pilots to real use in banking flows.
How much of that usage actually needs the WLD token, since adoption of World ID does not automatically mean demand for WLD.
Supply unlocks, which can weigh on price even when the news is good.
Privacy pushback, because iris scanning still divides people and regulators.
When fakes get cheap, being provably real becomes the product.
NFA.
